Brightly embroidered handwoven belts are the perfect accessory for your jeans or to belt a tunic.

Hand loomed on the traditional backstrap loom, the embroidery is woven into the background incorporating motifs drawn on collective memory and daily life of the Maya women. The belts close with a slide style wooden buckle.

Measuring from the buckle center to the end, these are all 47” long. To get the best fit, thread a tape measure through the belt loops of the pants you are wearing, then add approximately 5-7” to that number to get your belt size.

Each belt is one of a kind, you are purchasing the belt in the photo.

Approximately 1 1/2" wide.

 100% cotton belting.

About Mayamam Weavers

Mayamam Weavers create handwoven home goods and accessories for modern living, inspired by the rich colors and patterns and traditional weaving techniques of Mayan culture. As well as beautiful, our products are soft 100% cotton, and durable enough for everyday use.

We began in 2008 as a cooperative of women in Cajolá, a Mayan town in the western highlands of Guatemala. To overcome poverty, the women came together to explore ways to provide jobs within their community, rather than migrate to the U.S. and separate their families. Since then, then cooperative has grown to 20 weavers and seamstresses, all earning fair trade wages while learning the skills to run a business.

The members of the cooperative also have access to on-site preschool, after school tutoring, and scholarships.

Mayamam Weavers in the U.S. is based in Morristown, NJ. We are proud members of the Fair Trade Federation.

We are equally proud to offer products that make a difference in the lives of women and provide a better future for their children.
